Fall Classic terms of use
Effective October 28, 2026
These terms are the deal between you and Fall Classic. By creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Our privacy policy explains what data we collect and is part of these terms.
Fall Classic is built and run by John Hutchison, outwestlabs.io. TODO(John): confirm the legal name to show here.
1. What the app is
Fall Classic keeps score, handicaps, drinks, and friendly wagers for a group of friends on a golf trip or event. It also has a photo wall for each event. TODO(John): confirm the app is free with no in-app purchases.
2. Who can use it
You must be 17 or older to use Fall Classic. Give us accurate information, and keep one account per person.
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in private. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at john@outwestlabs.io if you think someone else is using it.
4. Scores and handicaps
People enter scores, and the app computes totals, standings, and handicaps from them. Results can be wrong. The commissioner of an event can correct them. Handicaps the app computes are for fun. They are not an official handicap from any golf association. Official handicaps come from GHIN or your club.
5. Friendly wagers
- The app records friendly wagers between members of an event. It does not hold, move, or pay money.
- All payment happens outside the app. Venmo and Cash App links only open those apps with the amount filled in. You pay or get paid there, under those apps' terms.
- Fall Classic does not offer cash gambling. The app does not take a cut, set odds, or hold a pool.
- Each member decides how a wager settles. The app only records what the members say.
- Wagering laws vary by place. You are responsible for following the laws where you are.
6. Drinks
Drink tracking is for fun. It is not medical advice and does not measure blood alcohol. Drink responsibly, and do not drive after drinking.
7. The Wall
Photos, captions, comments, and reactions you post to an event's Wall are visible to members of that event only.
- You keep ownership of what you post.
- You give us a license to store and show your content inside the app to the members of that event. The license ends when you delete the post or your account, except for copies that backups keep for a short time before they are overwritten.
- Delete your own posts by pressing and holding them.
Conduct
Be a degenerate, not a jerk. The commissioner can hide anything; you can report or block anyone.
Do not post anything that is hateful, sexual, threatening, or harassing. Do not post photos of people without their permission, private information about anyone, or anything illegal. Do not use the Wall to target a person.
Use Report on any post or comment that breaks these rules. Reports go to the commissioner of that event and to us. Block a person to remove their posts and comments from your feed. The commissioner can hide any post in their event. We can remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.
8. Our service
We try to keep Fall Classic running, but we do not promise it will always be up or always work. The app is built to work offline and sync later, and sync can take time. Course data comes from OpenGolfAPI and OpenStreetMap contributors. Yardages come from course data and your phone's location, so they are estimates. Do not rely on them for anything that matters beyond a friendly round.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account in Settings at any time. We can suspend or end an account that breaks these terms. Sections 5, 7, and 10 still apply after your account ends.
10. No warranty and limits of liability
Fall Classic is provided "as is." To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for lost wagers, disputes between members, injuries on the course, or any loss tied to the app's scores, yardages, or handicaps.
TODO(John): have a lawyer review this section before wide release.
11. Changes
We may change these terms. We will update the effective date at the top and tell users in the app. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
TODO(John): state the governing law and courts (Oregon is the likely choice).
